Oxford day

Sunday,15 April 2007

Hi,
yesterday I didn't write my blog because I was too tired after I walked a lot in the center of Oxford,I went there only with Simon because Tash and Beti decided to go to the supermarket while Simon taking me around Oxford. We visited The Cathedral,a very beautiful stately building in which I took a little quite of photos, fortunately the attendants of the Cathedral allowed to visitors take photos!!

After we went to the famous Oxford University, but we didn't go into because the pass is allowed for students and people who work inside only.Yesterday,Simon told me that Oxford haven't a unique University,as I thought, but there are some scattered buildings in Oxford which are part of the Oxford University.
So yesterday I discovered it !!
Than we went to another building in which was reproduced a typical Oxford students' life, from Queen Elizabeth the 1st up to the present day. In this building there were some movable seats which taking us around this building visiting a lot of statues which represented the typical life of Oxford's students in different ages. The statues were very nice because those were made with wax,so those look real !! The atmosphere wasn't very nice, because the inventors of this building have created a dark atmosphere, with candles and fires and sometimes some lightning too!! Every statue that was inside, was dressed with characteristics clothes and very accurate in every details. The creator of this attraction have been very good!! Besides,I forgot to tell you that during the itinerary we listened the story of every think we seeing, for example when we passed in front of a group of statues,we listened every noise the statues would make: speaking, laughing etc..(in the background),and we listened also the speaker who tell us the story about those statues..very nice!

We spent maybe two hours and half going around in the center of the city and visiting these buildings. Besides,we visited a nice covered market that was a big mix of a lot of shops, there were food shops, clothes shop, gift shops,etc..a very colourful and lively place,I liked it.

After that,I went into a Oxford story shop to buy two presents for my nice and my nephew,I bought two jumpers marked Oxford University, they will be very happy!!

When was, maybe 6pm,we met Tash and Beti and decided to come back home.

I've spent a very good day in Oxford, the weather was good, the sunshine was hot and I think that we are always lucky, because every time we decide to go everywhere, the weather change for the better!! Always!!

Now I'm going to have a shower.
See you soon,
Anna Lisa

Dear Anna Lisa,

This is a very long blog! Well done!! It’s an excellent description of Oxford! I’m glad you enjoyed it so much.

Here are some little alterations, which I hope will help you:
While Simon was taking me (you need ‘was’ before ‘taking’)
But we didn’t go into it (you need ‘it’ after ‘into’)
Moveable seat which took us (‘took’ instead of ‘taking’)
Because they were made with wax, so they look real (‘they’ instead of ‘those’)
Characteristic (no ‘s’ on the end)
In every detail (no ‘s’ on the end)
We listened to the story (‘to’ before ‘the’) of everything (not ‘every think’) we were seeing (‘were’ before ‘seeing’)
We listened to every noise (‘to’ before ‘every’)
We listened also to the (‘to’ before ‘the’) speaker who was telling (‘was telling’ instead of ‘tell’)
Two-and-a-half-hours (instead of ‘two hours and half’)
Instead of ‘Oxford story shop’, perhaps you mean ‘an Oxford department store’
At about 6pm we met Tash.

Best wishes,
Terri
